Double-Arm Solar Street Light Project: From Construction to Nighttime Opening

Double-Arm Solar Street Light Project: From Construction to Nighttime Opening

2026-10-13

There is a special moment in every road project: the day the lights come on for the first time. This is the story of an double-arm solar street light project on a municipal road in Malaysia from the dusty construction phase to the bright, busy road it is today.

The challenge: a new road that needed light without the grid bill

The project was a newly built municipal road. When the road work started, the area was still being developed construction soil piled on both sides, sidewalks being laid, and not a single working street light around. The local authority wanted two things at once: proper lighting for a road that would soon carry daily traffic, and a solution that would not depend on the weak local power grid or add permanent electricity costs.

Solar was the obvious answer. And for a road this wide, double-arm solar street lights were the right design one pole carries two lamp heads, lighting both sides of the road evenly with fewer poles and lower installation cost.

The equipment: built for tropical weather and real road use

The photos show exactly what went into this road. During the day, you can see the double-arm poles standing on both sides of the freshly paved road while the sidewalks were still under construction. By night, the same road is fully lit the lights stretch all the way to the horizon, with vehicles and pedestrians moving safely under bright, even illumination.

Each pole is an solar lighting system with four key parts:

  • LED lamp heads: high-power, high-brightness modules with IP65 protection and a 120° beam angle. Die-cast aluminum housing with high-transmittance tempered glass keeps the light strong and the lamp durable.
  • Solar panels: Grade A high-efficiency panels with more than 18.5% conversion efficiency, a hydrophobic layer for better light absorption, aluminum frame and tempered glass — built to charge fast and survive years of sun and rain.
  • Intelligent controller: automatic light and time control, over-charging and over-discharging protection, reverse-connection protection. The lights switch on automatically when the light sensor detects darkness, and switch off by themselves after 11-12 hours.
  • Galvanized steel pole: hot-dip galvanized steel with arm, bracket, flange, fittings and cable, plus a plastic coating that keeps it rust-proof in Malaysia's humid climate. It is wind-resistant up to 150 km/h, which matters in a country that sees heavy rainstorms every year.

The result on the ground

The difference is easy to see in the two photos. What was a bare construction site in the daytime shot is now a safe, well-lit road at night. Drivers can see the full width of the carriageway, pedestrians feel safe walking along the sidewalk, and the road keeps working even if the local grid has a problem the sun charges the batteries during the day, so night lighting never depends on the power company.

For the local authority, the savings are real: no cable digging, no monthly electricity bill, and very little maintenance. The galvanized poles resist rust and weather, and the smart controller looks after the batteries automatically.

Projects like this around the world

Solar street lights are already working on roads like this in many countries we have installed double-arm and single-arm solar street lights in Russia, Malaysia, Morocco, Kenya, Somalia, the Philippines and many other places. Every project is supported by our own factory production, quality testing and after-sales service.

If you have a new road, an old road or a town street that needs reliable lighting without the grid, talk to us. We will design the right solar lighting solution for your road, your weather and your budget and you will see the same difference: bright nights, low costs, no worries.
