LEADRAY at Solar Africa 2019 Kenya: Practical Solar Street Lights Solving East‑Africa Lighting Shortages

2026-10-12

From July 25‑27, 2019, LEADRAY took part in the 8th Power & Energy Africa / Solar Africa Exhibition held at KICC Nairobi, Kenya. This is one of East Africa’s most influential energy trade shows, gathering local government procurement officers, road contractors, community project developers, solar distributors and media reporters from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and surrounding African countries. Our booth drew heavy foot traffic, and we even received an on‑site interview from local CCTV news, sharing factory‑grade solar lighting solutions for African real‑world needs.

Many local visitors told our team about very common daily lighting troubles across East Africa. Grid power supply is unstable; frequent blackouts make traditional mains street lights useless for villages, suburban roads and remote communities. Lots of low‑cost solar lights imported from the market fail very quickly: weak battery performance cannot support long rainy‑season nights, poor sealing lets dust and heavy humidity get inside units, solar panels lose output under dusty weather, and after several months many lamps stop working completely. Local projects badly need durable, low‑maintenance all‑in‑one solar street lights that fit African climate and budget.

At our exhibition booth, buyers could turn on live lamp samples, test real brightness, check aluminum build quality and go through full technical specs. Our engineering team explained how LEADRAY products are tailored for East‑African conditions. We use high‑efficiency solar panels that still charge well even during overcast and dusty days. Large‑capacity lithium batteries support long working hours for dark rainy nights. Heavy‑duty IP65 dust‑proof and waterproof housing resists tropical rain, dust and high humidity, cutting down frequent repair work that frustrates many local installers. We displayed multiple series: standard road lamps, portable solar work flood lights, and integrated units with optional CCTV camera functions for public security road projects.

Besides product hardware, African partners cared a great deal about project flexibility. We offer multiple wattage options for village lanes, main highways, town squares and refugee settlement lighting projects. We can adjust motion sensor modes, dusk‑to‑dawn runtime and power output according to local sunshine conditions. The factory supports small trial sample orders for local resellers, mid‑size bulk shipments for regional distributors and large‑volume tender supplies for government infrastructure bids. We also provide complete datasheets, tender documents and installation guidance, which are critical for African project implementers.

During the show, local CCTV news visited our stand, recording our product demonstration and interviewing our team about how Chinese‑manufactured solar lighting helps ease power shortage issues across Kenya and East Africa.

This Nairobi expo was much more than product display. We collected first‑hand feedback from end‑users, installers and officials. Those real‑life suggestions helped us optimize battery capacity, sealing structure and packaging for long‑haul shipping to African ports. We built direct connections with dozens of new local distributors and project partners.

Up to today, insights gained at Solar Africa 2019 still guide our product development for the whole East‑African market. Many partners we met in Nairobi have kept long‑term cooperation with us for rural electrification and road‑lighting programs. If you are sourcing reliable, field‑tested solar street lights for East‑African road and community projects, LEADRAY Chinese manufacturer delivers cost‑effective solutions built for Africa’s actual environment.
