Lighting Billboards Without a Grid: Inside the 36W 5040lm Solar Advertising Light

Lighting Billboards Without a Grid: Inside the 36W 5040lm Solar Advertising Light

The Site: A Billboard That Has No Grid Connection

Outdoor advertising follows traffic, and traffic does not always follow the power grid. Highway gantries, rural junction boards, construction hoardings and trivision units on arterial roads frequently sit hundreds of metres from the nearest usable supply. Trenching a cable and paying a connection fee to light a 36W advertising panel is rarely justifiable which is why off-grid billboard lighting has become its own engineering problem.

The LEADRAY LFB36W was designed for that exact situation: a self-contained unit that harvests its own energy and lights the poster on a schedule, with no grid connection and no monthly electricity account.

What the Unit Provides

What the Unit Provides

What the Unit Provides

  • 5,040 lm typical output from a 36W CREE LED source enough to hold poster contrast on a standard billboard face, with CRI above 75Ra so printed colour reads the way the advertiser approved it.
  • 18V 80W solar panel deliberately oversized relative to the 36W load, because advertising panels must stay lit through consecutive overcast days, not just average ones.
  • 12V 40Ah lithium battery declared lifespan of 8 to 10 years, matched to the LED lifespan so the two do not age out of step.
  • AL6063-T5 aviation aluminium body the same grade used on our street light housings; corrosion resistance matters on a board that faces traffic spray for a decade.
  • IP65 sealing, −20°C to +60°C discharge range for desert highways as well as humid coastal routes.
  • Certification covering CE, RoHS, SASO and IEC including the SASO route that Middle East advertising tenders ask for.

The Lighting Profile Is Programmed, Not Guessed

A billboard that is bright at 19:00 and dark by 01:00 has failed. The LFB36W ships with a working profile that balances illumination against stored energy across the night:

Period Output Why
First 1 hour after dusk 50% Ambient light is still falling; full power is wasted
Next 4 hours (peak traffic) 100% Highest audience exposure of the day
Remaining night 30% Legibility maintained, battery protected

Charge time is 6 to 8 hours, storage temperature range is -20°C to +45°C and charging is rated from 0°C to +60°C. These figures are published because they determine whether the unit can be stocked, shipped and installed in a given climate not because they fill a catalogue page.

The panel is mounted separately from the light bar, so the array can face true solar south (or north, in the southern hemisphere) while the light bar faces the poster. On a trivision unit the light must also clear the rotating mechanism, which is why the mounting brackets are supplied as a matched set rather than as generic clamps. For a distributor handling multiple sites, that reduces the number of return visits caused by aiming errors.

From a Factory That Builds Its Own Power Side

From a Factory That Builds Its Own Power Side

Off-grid products fail at the battery and the seal long before they fail at the LED. Because our 68,000 m² facility includes its own LiFePO4 battery PACK workshop and solar panel workshop, every pack is built and tested in-house rather than sourced as a black box: raw-material inspection, photoelectric testing, a waterproof check and a full aging cycle before packing, traceable under certification reference No. LCS2111080754R. Monthly capacity of 1,200 street light units sits alongside dedicated solar lighting production, so a multi-site advertising rollout can be scheduled in phases, and OEM/ODM branding, carton design and parameter customisation are supported for distributors.

Send us the billboard size, orientation and site latitude we will confirm the panel position, the lighting profile and the autonomy you can expect in your market.
