Determine your lighting needs
Lighting area and brightness: Choose an appropriate brightness based on the size and functional zoning of your garden.
For general garden lights, a brightness of 300 lumens or higher is recommended; for staircases and steps, 400-600 lumens is recommended; and for decorative garden lights, 200-300 lumens is recommended. For example, a garden under 50 square meters can use a lamp with approximately 1500 lumens, while a garden of 50-100 square meters would be suitable for a lamp with 2000-3000 lumens.
Lighting duration: If you want your garden light to stay on for extended periods at night, choose a battery with a large capacity.
A battery capacity of 3000mAh or higher is generally recommended to ensure at least three days of continuous lighting.
Lighting Mode: Common options include light-activated automatic on/off modes, which automatically turn on at dusk and off at dawn.
There's also a motion-sensing mode, which turns on when someone approaches and off when they leave. This mode is more energy-efficient and suitable for areas that don't require constant lighting.
Pay attention to solar panel and battery performance.
Solar panel conversion efficiency: Monocrystalline silicon solar panels are preferred, as they have a higher conversion efficiency and can provide good charging performance even on cloudy days. High-quality solar panels can achieve conversion efficiencies exceeding 22%.
Solar panel power: The higher the power, the faster the charging speed. It's generally recommended to choose a solar panel with a power of 10W or above. In rainy southern regions, the power can be increased appropriately.
Battery Type and Capacity: Currently, the mainstream battery types are lithium and nickel-metal hydride. Lithium batteries have a relatively long lifespan of approximately 3-5 years and offer better performance. When purchasing, be sure to confirm whether the battery is replaceable to facilitate future maintenance.
Consider the lamp material and appearance.
Lamp body material: It's recommended to choose rust-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials such as aluminum alloy and stainless steel. These materials offer a longer lifespan and are better suited to outdoor environments.
Appearance: Choose the appearance of your lighting fixture based on the overall style of your villa or garden.
For example, for a modern, minimalist garden, choose fixtures with geometric shapes and simple colors; for a European-style garden, choose fixtures with retro elements and ornate designs.
Check water and dust resistance: Outdoor environments are complex, so lighting fixtures must be well-protected against water and dust. Prefer products with an IP44 rating or above. For locations with heavy rain or near pools, an IP65 rating is preferred.
Focus on smart features: Some smart features can enhance convenience and energy efficiency, such as time-of-day dimming, voice control, and geo-fencing. Choose the right one based on your needs.
Choose reliable brands and after-sales service: Well-known brands offer greater assurance of product quality and after-sales service. Before purchasing, research the brand's reputation and user reviews, and check the product's warranty policy and repair services.
