  • How Does a Solar Street Light Work
    Jan 21, 2021
Solar Street Light works on the principle of solar cells. Solar cells which is on the top of the fixture absorb solar energy during the day. The solar cells then convert the solar energy into electrical energy which is stored in battery. The battery is placed inside the fixture. During night time the solar street light starts automatically and consumes the energy already stored in the battery. During day time the battery gets recharged through solar power and the process keeps on repeating. Solar Street lights are composed of LED lights. LED requires very little current hence solar panels of smaller sizes are required for solar street light with LED. Where you can install a Solar street light? Roadway, Garden, Park, School campus, Rural Street, etc

  • How to distinguish between Monocrystalline Solar and Polycrystalline Solar?
    Jul 17, 2020
When you are ready to purchase some solar products, you may want to choose the best solar panel. So do you know what you can do? Distinguishing between Monocrystalline Solar Panels and Polycrystalline Solar Panels is achievable through multiple dimensions, including appearance, performance, manufacturing principles, and application scenarios.  There are two types of solar panel material in the market, one is Monocrystalline, and the other one is Polycrystalline. Normally, we will suggest more to our customers to choose Monocrystalline Solar when they ask for solar street light, because Monocrystalline will be more efficient. It can collect more sun power convert to electronics. How to distinguish between Monocrystalline Solar and Polycrystalline Solar?1, Different Color. The typical monocrystalline panel will tend to have a darker black color, polycrystalline panels tend to have a blue color. 2, Silicon Shape.Monocrystalline panel silicon is not a regular square shape, but polycrystalline panel silicon is a regular square shape. Shenzhen Leadray solar light uses Monocrystalline panel, perfect quality and reasonable price. Visual Identification: The Most Intuitive Method Appearance is the fastest way to tell them apart, as their silicon wafers have distinct visual features:   Feature Monocrystalline Solar Panels Polycrystalline Solar Panels Color of Silicon Wafer Deep black (or dark blue with a slight metallic sheen) Blue with obvious "speckled" or "cloudy" textures Shape of Silicon Wafer Typically rounded corners (due to the cylindrical ingot cutting process) Usually square corners (molded directly, no waste from rounding) Surface Texture Uniform, smooth, and glossy (single crystal structure reflects light consistently) Uneven, with visible grain boundaries (small, scattered light spots under light) Backsheet Color Often white (to enhance light reflection and efficiency), but some use black for aesthetics Mostly white (less focus on "black panel" design due to lower efficiency)   Performance Comparison: Beyond Appearance If visual cues are unclear (e.g., panels with black backsheets or anti-reflective coatings), performance parameters can further help distinguish them:   Performance Indicator Monocrystalline Solar Panels Polycrystalline Solar Panels Photoelectric Conversion Efficiency Higher (typically 18%–24%, some high-end models exceed 25%) Lower (typically 15%–19%) Space Efficiency Better—generates more power per unit area (e.g., a 1㎡ monocrystalline panel produces ~220W, vs. ~180W for polycrystalline) Poorer—requires more installation space for the same power output Temperature Coefficient Lower (usually -0.3%/℃ to -0.4%/℃): Performance degrades less when the panel heats up (critical for hot climates) Higher (usually -0.4%/℃ to -0.5%/℃): Efficiency drops more significantly in high temperatures Low-Light Performance Superior—converts weak light (e.g., cloudy days, dawn/dusk) into electricity more effectively Inferi   Monocrystalline Panels: Ideal for scenarios where space is limited or efficiency is prioritized, such as: Rooftop solar systems (residential/commercial buildings with small roof areas) Portable solar devices (solar chargers, camping lights)   Areas with hot climates or frequent cloudy weather Polycrystalline Panels: Suitable for large-scale, cost-sensitive projects with ample space, such as: Ground-mounted solar farms (where land is abundant) Budget-friendly residential installations   Regions with strong, consistent sunlight (e.g., deserts, tropical areas)   We have solar street lights, solar garden lights and so on. • LED is a good choice
    Aug 17, 2020
Do you know the advantages of LED? Let us study together! LED (Light-Emitting Diode) lighting is widely recognized as an excellent choice for both residential and commercial applications—especially in scenarios like integrated solar street lights, parking lot lighting, and indoor illumination.     Its superiority stems from unmatched energy efficiency, long lifespan, environmental friendliness, and versatile performance, making it a far more practical option than traditional lighting technologies (such as incandescent, fluorescent, or high-pressure sodium lamps).   Below is a detailed breakdown of why LED is a top-tier choice: LED is very energy-efficient and environmental, because it contains no Toxic Mercury, Lead or other hazardous material. And LED has less CO2 than other normal lighting. LED is good for your health, it doesn’t emit UV light. And importantly, LED lights will not attract insects.LED has a high CRI, showing true color and is more stable. LED life span is longer than other lighting. The service life can reach 80,000 hours-100,000hours.   LED is a completely safe light, only less than 36V DC safety voltage, there is no danger of electric shock.Shenzhen Leadray Optoeletronic Co., LTD. is a solar light company.   All of our solar lights use LED as light sources. As a Solar lighting company specializing in Solar street light for 15 years, our products include Solar street light, Solar garden light, Solar flood light and Solar billboard light, etc. we'd like to take a chance to cooperate with you if possible.     LEDs are a "green" lighting option, with minimal environmental impact: No Toxic Materials: Unlike fluorescent lamps (which contain mercury, a neurotoxin requiring special disposal) or HPS lamps (which contain lead), LEDs are free of hazardous substances. This makes them easy to recycle and reduces pollution risks if broken or discarded.   Lower Carbon Emissions: Due to their energy efficiency, LEDs reduce the demand for electricity—much of which comes from fossil fuels. For example, replacing one incandescent bulb with an LED saves ~450 kg of CO₂ emissions over the LED’s lifespan. For large projects (e.g., a city switching 100,000 street lights to LED), this translates to millions of kg of CO₂ reduced annually.   When Is LED Even More Advantageous? LEDs shine brightest in scenarios where: Energy efficiency is critical: Solar-powered systems, off-grid areas, or buildings aiming for energy certifications (e.g., LEED). Maintenance is costly: High ceilings, street lights, or remote locations (e.g., rural roads). Light quality matters: Safety-focused areas (parking lots, walkways), retail spaces, or homes.   In short, LED lighting isn’t just a "good choice"—it’s a future-proof, cost-effective, and eco-friendly solution that outperforms traditional lighting in nearly every metric. Whether you’re upgrading home lights, installing solar street lights, or equipping a commercial space, LEDs deliver long-term value and reliable performance.

  • Street lights are important
    Aug 21, 2020
If you are looking for the best solar street lights. Finding the right one, you will be certain of using the right lighting solution you need for places like the parking lots, streets, transits, outdoor areas, civil and military security areas and so many more. Street lights are an indispensable part of urban and rural infrastructure, serving as a "nighttime safety net" and a catalyst for social and economic activity.   Their importance extends far beyond basic illumination—they directly impact public safety, quality of life, traffic efficiency, and even community vitality. Below is a detailed breakdown of why street lights matter:   Street lights are important to us at night. They help keep us safe and make it easier for us to see where we are going. Having cost efficient eco-friendly street lights is what we need. This product is great for people like me who tend to forget to plug things, as it is solar- powered. It charges on its own as long as there is sunlight. This also means that electric wires and electricity are not needed when it is being installed. When it comes to switching this on and off, its induction mode automatically switches on at dusk and turns off at dawn. This is great for people who go out of their houses in the morning and go home at dusk or night as their surroundings. Here the Leadray LRC-H series solar street light is a good solution.   Globally patent design Easy to replace the battery Easy Maintenance Road optical lens, 200Lm/W PIR sensor control     For more info about solar street light, please visit our website: www.szleadray.com. Shenzhen Leadray company is worthy of your trust. We are ready to answer your questions.   Enhance Urban & Rural Development Street lights are a key marker of "developed infrastructure" and play a role in equitable growth: Signal Progress in Rural Areas: In rural or remote regions, installing street lights is often a sign of improved living standards. It connects rural communities to broader networks (e.g., better access to urban markets for farmers) and reduces the "urban-rural divide" in quality of life. For example, a village with street lights may see more young people staying (instead of moving to cities) because it offers safer, more functional nighttime conditions.   Improve Infrastructure Resilience: Modern street lights (e.g., integrated solar street lights) can enhance resilience during power outages. Solar-powered street lights with backup batteries remain operational during grid failures, ensuring critical areas (e.g., hospitals, evacuation routes) stay lit during emergencies like storms or natural disasters. This was evident during Hurricane Katrina in 2005—areas with solar street lights were able to maintain basic nighttime safety, while grid-dependent areas were left in total darkness.     Enable Smart City Integration: Today’s street lights are often part of "smart city" systems, equipped with sensors for air quality monitoring, traffic flow tracking, or even Wi-Fi hotspots. This transforms street lights from simple "light sources" into multi-functional infrastructure that improves urban management (e.g., adjusting traffic signals based on real-time data, alerting authorities to air pollution spikes).

  • The Advantage of Solar Street Light
    Aug 21, 2020
Solar street lights are independent of the utility grid resulting in lessened operation costs. This means that these are wireless lights and are not connected to your electricity provider.   The lights are dependent on the heat energy given off by the sun, storing as much of it throughout the day. Solar street lights require less maintenance than conventional street lights.   These have lower chances of overheating. Since solar wires do not have external wires, the risk of accidents is minimized. A lot of times, accidents happen to the personnel who fixes the street light.   These can include strangulation or electrocution. Solar street lights are environment-friendly because its panels are solely dependent on the sun hence eliminating your carbon footprints contribution.   Some parts of solar street lighting systems can be easily carried to remote areas, making these more efficient and handy solutions to lighting problems.   On the other hand, if there are advantages, solar street lights also have a number of disadvantages. It also pays to make you aware of these few advantages just so you can compare it to conventional lighting systems.   In the end, you just have to decide whether the advantages top the disadvantages or not.Shenzhen Leadray Optoeletronic Co., LTD. is a leading manufacturer in solar street light industry.   Our products include Solar street light, Solar garden light, Solar flood light and Solar billboard light, etc. Below is one of the best sellers among Leadray solar street lights:LRC120W solar street light:LED Brand: CREE LEDBattery Type: Lithium LiFePO4 battrryBattery Capacity: 36Ah (25.6V)Luminous Flux: 16800LmMounting Height: 10-12MWarranty: 3Years Applications: Parking Lots, Streets, Avenues, Plazas, Gardens, Farms, Communities, etc.

  • How do you maintain your solar panels of solar street light?
    Aug 28, 2020
Worried about solar panels and hail? Fret not, solar panels are incredibly durable and require little to no maintenance over their productive lifetime – which can span 25 years or more. Solar panels are made of tempered glass, so they’re built to withstand hail and other rough weather. With the exception of tracking mounts, solar panel systems don’t have movable parts, which cuts down on the possibility of any problems.   Maintaining the solar panels of solar street lights is critical to ensuring their long-term efficiency (typically 25–30 years of lifespan) and stable power supply for the street light. Poor maintenance can lead to a 30–50% drop in energy conversion efficiency over time, shortening the system’s service life and increasing replacement costs.    Routine Inspection: Catch Issues Early Routine checks (recommended monthly for urban areas, quarterly for rural/remote areas) focus on identifying visible damage, position deviations, or environmental interference that could affect panel performance.   Inspection Item What to Check Potential Risks if Neglected Panel Surface - Cracks, scratches, or yellowing of the glass cover.- Loose or broken frame (aluminum alloy frame is common).- Peeling of the anti-reflective coating (critical for light absorption). - Water seepage into the panel (damages internal cells).- Reduced structural stability (panels may fall in strong winds).- 10–20% lower light absorption. Mounting Structure - Loose bolts, brackets, or rust on the mounting rack.- Tilt angle deviation (should match the local latitude for optimal sun exposure).- Signs of corrosion (especially in coastal areas with salt spray). - Panels shift or tilt incorrectly (reduces daily energy harvest by 15–25%).- Mounting rack collapses (total panel damage). Surrounding Obstacles - Overgrown trees, branches, or new buildings blocking sunlight.- Bird nests, leaves, or garbage accumulated on/around the panel. - Shading causes "hot spots" (damages cells and reduces output).- Debris blocks light and traps moisture (accelerates corrosion). Wiring & Connectors - Frayed cables, loose MC4 connectors (standard for solar panels), or rust on terminals.- Signs of overheating (discolored insulation or melted plastic). - Poor electrical contact (power loss of 5–10%).- Short circuits (may    Many people in regions that get significant snowfall often ask if it’s necessary to remove the snow from the panels. Generally, the answer is no – snow usually melts and falls from the panel shortly after falling, so it doesn’t have a big impact on your overall production levels.   For your panels to be self-cleaning, they will need to be mounted at an angle of 15 degrees or more.Generally, solar panels don’t need to be cleaned. If you live somewhere where there is a lot of smog, dust, or dirt, you may see a dip in your production over time that can be remedied by cleaning your panels. On rainy days, water can help you clean the dirty on the solar panel.Shenzhen Leadray Optoelectronic Company Specialize in Solar lighting fields for over 15 years, our solar light sold to many countries. The hot selling products range is solar street light, solar garden light, solar parking lot light, etc. If you use our All in One Solar Light, we provide a range of warranties that guarantee you will have support and coverage in the unlikely event of an issue, such as hail or falling tree branches.

  • Solar lights basics: how do they work?
    Aug 31, 2020
Solar lights convert sunlight into electrical energy to illuminate their surroundings, making use of key components and a multi - step process. Here's a detailed look at how they work:     1. Components of Solar Lights Solar Panel: Usually made of monocrystalline or polycrystalline silicon, the solar panel is the "energy collector." Monocrystalline panels have higher efficiency, typically around 18 - 24%, while polycrystalline panels have an efficiency of 15 - 19%.   The panel's job is to absorb photons from sunlight and release electrons, creating a flow of direct current (DC) electricity.     Battery: Most solar lights use rechargeable batteries, such as lithium - ion, lithium - iron - phosphate, or lead - acid batteries. Lithium - ion and lithium - iron - phosphate batteries are more common in modern solar lights due to their high energy density, longer lifespan, and lighter weight. Lead - acid batteries are less expensive but heavier and have a shorter lifespan. The battery stores the electrical energy generated by the solar panel during the day for use at night.   Charge Controller: This component manages the flow of electricity between the solar panel and the battery. Its main functions include preventing overcharging of the battery (which can damage the battery and reduce its lifespan) and preventing the battery from discharging back to the solar panel at night. Some advanced charge controllers also have features like maximum power point tracking (MPPT), which can improve the charging efficiency by adjusting the voltage and current to match the optimal operating point of the solar panel.   Light Source: LED (Light - Emitting Diode) is the most commonly used light source in solar lights. LEDs are highly energy - efficient, with a lifespan of 25,000 - 50,000 hours or more. They consume much less power compared to traditional incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. LEDs also come in different color temperatures, allowing for customization of the lighting effect.   Switch or Sensor: Some solar lights have a manual switch that allows users to turn the light on or off. More commonly, they are equipped with sensors, such as light - dependent resistors (LDRs) or PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors. LDRs detect the ambient light level and automatically turn the light on when it gets dark and off when it gets light.   PIR sensors detect the presence of heat and movement, and can be used to turn the light on when someone or something approaches, and then turn it off after a set period of inactivity.     Solar lights work like a miniature version of a rooftop solar panel system with one important distinction: solar lights must include battery storage.   During the daytime when the sun is shining, solar cells attached to the light generate electricity and store it in a battery. Most solar lights include a darkness sensor so that come night time, they will automatically turn on and start using their stored electricity.   While many solar lights have their solar cells built right into the same unit as the light itself, some products will have lights separate from the solar panel providing power to it.Most solar lights are LEDs that only use a small amount of electricity. Because of this, many solar lights can run for a full night (if not more). Most solar lighting systems have a “nightly run time” rating that indicates how long you can expect lighting given a certain amount of sun exposure.   Keep in mind that these run times will vary significantly from the actual lighting time you get from your solar lights, as factors like shading, geographic location, and cloud cover will all impact how much sun the attached solar cells can convert to electricity. If you’re looking for even good ways to use solar energy around your home, check out our guide to the www.szleadray.com. All the best outdoor solar lights will be optional. As a Solar lighting company specializing in Solar street light for 15 years, We will be lucky if we are a potential supplier for you.
