LEADRAY LGH series integrated solar courtyard lights in Africa

LEADRAY LGH series integrated solar courtyard lights in Africa

May 13, 2026

In order to meet the growing demand for reliable off grid outdoor lighting in Africa - unstable power grids, high temperatures, rainstorm and sandstorms are common challenges in Africa - LEADRAY deployed LGH series integrated solar garden lights for a large public lighting project in Nairobi, Kenya. The project aims to provide consistent maintenance free lighting for community parks, public squares, parking lots, and agricultural areas, meeting the safety and quality of life needs of local residents.

in the harsh climate of Africa

This project utilizes the LGH-80W and LGH-100W models of the LGH series, utilizing their robust design to thrive in the harsh climate of Africa

Efficient solar power generation system:

120W/160W monocrystalline silicon solar panels can capture the maximum amount of sunlight even under high temperature and low light conditions.

Long life LiFePO₄ batteries (12.8V 60AH/80AH) have stable performance under extreme high temperatures and can provide 3-5 days of backup on cloudy/rainy days.

The Philips 5050 LED chip (230 lm/W efficiency) produces 14400-18000 lumens, ensuring bright and uniform lighting over large areas.

Optimization of Light Distribution for African Scenarios:

Multi directional light modules with selectable beam angles (60 °/90 ° × 120 °/80 ° × 150 °) can minimize shadows and adapt to various layouts ranging from narrow park trails to wide squares.

4000-5700K neutral white light can improve visibility without producing dazzling glare, making it very suitable for pedestrian safety and agricultural applications such as fish farms.

Intelligent and durable design: The time controlled lighting mode with 100%/30% power settings (12-13 hours at full brightness and 41-44 hours at 30% power) optimizes energy use during long nights.

Optimization of Light Distribution for African Scenarios

The sturdy and corrosion-resistant structure can withstand heavy rainfall and sandstorms in Kenya, with IP65 waterproof and debris protection.

The integrated design simplifies installation, requiring only one pole installation (without complex wiring or grid connections). The troops quickly deployed to 12 locations, including Uhuru Park, local market parking lots, and rural agricultural areas.

The heat-resistant components and wide operating temperature range of the lamp ensure reliable performance during Nairobi's hot, dry, and long rainy seasons.

The low-key design of the lighting and the soft and uniform illumination complement the natural park landscape, while preventing theft and destruction in high traffic public areas.

Residents can now enjoy consistent lighting during nighttime activities, thereby reducing safety risks in previously dark parks and public places.

The solar energy system eliminates dependence on Kenya's unstable power grid, providing uninterrupted lighting even during widespread power outages.

Long life batteries and durable LED chips require minimal maintenance, thereby reducing long-term operating costs for local governments.

Farmers in Africa also benefit from the extended running time and wide beam angle of the lights, which are used to protect livestock and monitor the operation of fish farms after dark.
