Rural road lighting intelligent lighting control system for rural roads in the North Island of New Zealand

The rural road lighting project is located in the core pastoral and rural tourism area of Waikato on the North Island of New Zealand, and is an important initiative in the local municipal road renovation. The local area is characterized by vast rural landscapes, scattered farmland, and suburban residential areas, with a large number of two lane rural scenic roads connecting rural farms, tourist attractions, and residential areas.

Affected by the temperate maritime climate, Waikato has moderate rainfall throughout the year, frequent wind and rain weather, frost in winter, and occasional drought in summer, posing severe challenges to outdoor road lighting equipment. In response to long-term issues such as insufficient nighttime lighting on rural roads, high electricity prices on the power grid, and difficulties in cable construction, the local municipal transportation bureau has officially launched a rural road lighting upgrade project.

LEADRAY has been selected as the exclusive lighting supplier, providing a total of 320 sets of LRI series integrated solar street lights, using a hybrid model of 80W and 100W, installed at a standard height of 8-10 meters, fully covering the rural road network, achieving full coverage, stable and energy-saving night lighting for rural roads.

The light is soft and glare free, effectively covering the road lanes and sidewalks, eliminating dark lighting areas on rural curved roads and rural paths. It avoids glaring light that affects the driver's vision, greatly improving the safety of local residents and tourists driving, walking, and cycling at night. This lighting fixture is equipped with high-quality and long-life LiFePO4 lithium batteries, supporting stable backup lighting for 3-5 consecutive rainy days, perfectly solving the problem of insufficient solar power generation in the Waikato area during continuous rainy weather, ensuring uninterrupted nighttime lighting throughout the year.

In terms of intelligent energy saving, the built-in intelligent lighting control system can automatically sense the ambient light brightness, achieve automatic turning on at dusk and turning off at dawn, without the need for manual timing operations. It also supports intelligent power regulation, automatically reducing power consumption during low traffic at night, effectively saving solar energy and extending the overall service life of the device. Unlike traditional grid lights, our integrated solar lights do not require grid wiring, cable trenches, or complex civil construction during installation. The simplified installation process greatly shortens the project construction period and reduces a significant amount of civil engineering, wiring, and later electricity costs for the local government.
